UNIVERSITY OF PHOENIX ANNOUNCES
SIX FULL TUITION FIRST CHANCE™ SCHOLARSHIPS TO BOYS AND
GIRLS CLUBS OF ADA COUNTY
During a
time when family budgets are exceptionally tight, the
University of Phoenix,-Idaho Campus announced it will
provide six full tuition scholarships to high school seniors
who are members of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Ada County,
any recent Boys and Girls Club Alumni, any Club member
parent or Club staff member. All applicants must have been
involved with the club for at least six months. Applications
are due by December 31, 2008 and the scholarship recipients
will be formally recognized during the Idaho Business
Review’s annual event in March 2009.
The scholarships
will be awarded under the umbrella of the University’s First
Chance™ Scholarship program, which was established in 2006
by the University and also actor and education advocate, Tom
Arnold. The program is designed to promote the life-changing
benefits of education and honor individuals who have shown
the desire to improve their lives, and the lives of those
around them, through education.
“We have a deep
appreciation for the transformational work occurring at the
Boys and Girls Clubs on a daily basis,” said Dr. Bill Bach,
University of Phoenix, Idaho Campus Director. “We know this
scholarship will help the clubs continue to inspire many
students, parents and staff, to pursue their dreams –
whatever those may be.”
Applications are available
now at both the Meridian and the Garden City Boys and Girls
Club locations. A scholarship workshop will be held to help
qualified individuals understand the requirements and to
provide tips on essay writing and applying for scholarships.
Workshops will be held on the following dates:
November 12th at 6:00 p.m. at the Meridian Boys & Girls Club
December 3rd at 6:00PM at the Meridian Boys & Girls Club
